Mission: Possible

Now that you know what missions organizations NewPointe supports, we want to give you a chance to meet them, find out more about what they do and see how you, your family or your small group might get involved in their ministry.

On Sunday July 26th we are holding our first ever MISSION: POSSIBLE missions fair. Throughout the main corridor of NewPointe, all of our missions Partners and Associates will display information about their ministry and they want to talk with YOU. They want to answer your questions and tell you what God is doing through them to reach people with the saving grace of Jesus Christ.

Before, between and after services beginning at 8:15 AM and lasting until the final person has left the building following the 11:00 AM service, our Partners and Associates will be here to get to know the people of NewPointe. It's our desire for NewPointe Community Church to be known as a serving and outwardly focused church. So save the date and plan to get to know the missions organizations that you support. It's a big job but if we all work together the MISSION: is POSSIBLE. I'll see you there.

Missions Partners and Associates

Here at NewPointe, we have taken the "less is more" approach to Missions support. What I mean is that instead of investing in a lot of ministries around the country and around the world and spreading our dollars and resources thin, we have decided to narrow our focus in order to have a much greater impact on the ministries that we partner with.

I thought you might like to see what ministries your church is investing in. Here they are:

Partners (Supported financially and with human resources)

Local
Denny Trimmer (KSU Tusc. Campus)
Garaway Released Time
Young Life
PAL Mission
Circle of Friends
Pastor Abu Shant (Arab ministry in Toledo)

National
Eastern Christian FM Church in New Jersey (Arab speakers)
Eight Days of Hope

Global
Impact Middle East

Associates (Supported with human resources only)

Harbor House
Habitat for Humanity
Pregnancy Support Center
Accountability, Choices and Empowerment (ACE)

NPCC Initiatives

Timothy Project
Community Impact Day
Angel Food
Food Drive
Operation Christmas Child
Children, widow and family adoptions

In future blogs I will individually highlight one of our Partners or Associates and give you more details about their ministry and how you might get involved with them. If you have any questions in the mean time, just ask.

The Church Has Left the Building..........

You have got to save the date of August 2nd, 2009. If you don't, you will have missed out on one of the most exciting events of the year. This is the day that we will close the church and go into the community to BE the church. It's not enough to claim to be a Christ follower and attend church every Sunday. We must look for opportunities to be the hands and feet of Jesus and show the love of Christ through our service. Want to "go deep" with God? SERVE.

Many of you may remember last year when a yellow clad army of approximately 15oo spread out through Holmes, Tuscarawas and neighboring Counties and served our neighbors just because. What a stir it made that a church would close it's doors on a Sunday morning of all days and ask the congregation to take on a project and work instead of worship. But worship we did, through dozens upon dozens of acts of service and kindness.

Beginning Sunday May 10th and running through the 24th, you will have the opportunity to tell us that you will be participating in this years event by filling out a registration form you will find in the weekly and telling us about your skills (or lack of them in my case), abilities and project ideas. Then on June 7, 14 and 21 we will be having project sign-ups in the hallway just inside the South Entrance where you can pick the project you, your family or small group would like to take part in.

Plans are already coming together and the Go '09 Community Impact Day team is hard at work to make this the serving event of the year. You just don't want to miss it. So remember, on August 2nd, The Church is Leaving the Building............
